Your Comcast programming will be temporarily interrupted. However, as soon as the test ends, you will be returned to your regularly scheduled programming. While we do not anticipate an interruption in your service, in some rare cases, you may need to:
.
• Use your remote to channel up and then channel down or power down your box to fully restore programming after the test completes.
.
• Any DVR recordings that are in progress during this test will be interrupted, and in some cases, lost.
.
If you experience the Emergency Alert System message for more than five minutes, please do the following:
• Power-cycle your cable box by unplugging the power cord from the outlet
.
• Wait thirty seconds and then plug it back in
And if you don't read that, and say "I don't know when it locked up" when you get tech support, isn't the onus on you ?
They're already wrong about the test length
This test will last approximately three minutes and will be seen on all local, cable, and satellite TV stations across the country, as well as radio.
The nationwide EAS test on Nov. 9 has been shortened, a FEMA official confirmed.
According to an email distributed by the National Association of Broadcasters to a number of industry leaders today and forwarded to Radio World, NAB was informed by FEMA that the audio of the test at 2 p.m. (Eastern Time) will now last 30 seconds, instead of the originally planned two and a half minutes.
“This will result in a total test time of approximately 45 to 60 seconds (including the data burst tones),” according to the email by NAB’s Larry Walke.
“This change was made at the direction of Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. NAB will be providing more information as we learn more and will be adjusting the messaging about the Nationwide EAS Test accordingly.
What if you don't read your email or are 80 and don't use email ?
Are they going house to house for free if people don't know why they're locked up ?
The USA stared at the USSR for 46 years. This is CYA foolishness to remind you that "we are at war" that will cause more confusion than benefit.
After something goes wrong, it'll be back to the corporate handouts in the billions to "fix" it.
